1.ปิรามิดแห่งกิซ่า( The Great Pyramid of Egypt )

ปิรามิดเป็นสิ่งก่อสร้างรูปกรวยเหลี่ยมสำหรับเป็นที่เก็บศพกษัตริย์อียิปต์โบราณ ในอียิปต์มีอยู่ 70 ด้วยกัน แต่ปิรามิด 3 แห่งที่อยู่เมืองกีซ่า คือ หลุมฝังศพของพระเจ้าฟาโรห์คีออพส์(พระเจ้าคูฟู) คีเฟรน และไมซีรีนัส เป็นปิรามิดที่ใหญ่ที่สุดสันนิษฐานว่าปิรามิดนี้ สร้างขึ้นมาตั้งแต่ 4600 ปีมาแล้ว นับว่าเป็นสิ่งมหัศจรรย์ของโลกยุคเก่า ที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดและยังคงตั้งตระหง่านอยู่เพียงแห่งเดียวในโลก ใช้เวลาสร้าง 10 ปี

ปิรามิดที่ยิ่งใหญ่ทั้งสามอันแห่งเมืองกีซ่านี้ ที่ใหญ่ที่สุดคือปิรามิดของพระเจ้าฟาโรห์คีออพส์ เรียกว่ามหาปิรามิด

- ฐานของปิรามิดแห่งนี้มีความกว้างถึง 570,000 ตาราง768 ฟุต บริเวณฐานปิรามิด 4 ด้านนั้น มีความกว้างยาวเท่ากัน คือ 755 ฟุต หรือ 230.12 เมตร จะแตกต่างกันมากน้อยแค่ 8 นิ้ว

- ตัวมหาปิรามิดนี้สูงประมาณ 432 ฟุตประมาณได้ว่ามีหินก้อนมหึมาถึง 2,300,000 ก้อน หนักกว่า 6,000,000 ตัน แต่ละก้อนหนักถึง 2.5 ตัน บางก้อนหนักถึง 16 ตัน กว้างยาวประมาณ 3 ฟุต หรือ 1 เมตร

สันนิษฐานว่าผู้สร้างปิรามิดนี้อาศัยดวงดาวเป็นหลัก นอกจากความใหญ่โตอันน่ามหัศจรรย์ของปิรามิดแล้ว การก่อสร้างให้สำเร็จยัง น่ามหัศจรรย์ยิ่งกว่าหลายเท่าถ้าทราบว่าหินเหล่านี้ต้องสกัดมาจากภูเขาที่อยูไกล แล้วลากมาสู่ฝั่งแม่น้ำไนล์ ล่องลงมาเป็นระยะทางนับร้อยไมล์ จึงมาถึงจุดใกล้ที่ก่อสร้าง แล้วชักลากผ่านทะเลทรายไปถึงที่ก่อส้างต้องแต่งสลักเป็นแท่งสี่เหลี่ยม แล้วยก วางซ้อนขึ้นไปจนถึง 432 ฟุต

ใจกลางปิรามิดมีห้องเก็บพระศพของพระเจ้าคีออพส์ข้างในทำจากหินแกรนิต กว้าง 34 ฟุต ยาว 17 ฟุต และสูง 19 ฟุต หีบพระศพของพระเจ้าคีออพส์ทำด้วยหินแกรนิตตั้งอยู่ทางทิศตะวันตกของห้องปิรามิดของพระเจ้าคีออพส์ ล้อมรอบด้วยหลุมศพ และปิรามิดเล็ก ๆ อีก 3 แห่ง ซึ่งเป็นของสมาชิกในราชวงศ์และในราชสำนักชั้นสูง

ปิรามิดแห่งที่สองของกีซ่าเป็นปิรามิดคีเฟรน ตั้งอยู่ทางทิศตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ของมหาปิรามิด เล็กกว่ามหาปิรามิดเล็กน้อย คือสูง 460 ฟุต ช่วงบนของปิรามิดนี้มีลักษณะเด่นเพราะเป็นหินปูนขาว

ปิรามิดไมซีรีนัส เป็นปิรามิดที่เล็กที่สุดในบรรดาทั้งสามแห่ง สูงแค่ 230 ฟุต นอกเหนือจากปิรามิดทั้งสามแล้วยังมี ตัวสฟิงซ์ซึ่งมีชื่อเสียงมากเช่นกัน โดยแกะสลักหินก้อนใหญ่เป็นรูปสิงโตหมอบอยู่แต่หน้าเป็นมนุษย์ใบหน้านี้เป็นใบหน้าของพระเจ้าคีเฟรน ซึ่งมีคนนับถือเป็นพระเจ้าแห่งพระอาทิตย์ รูปสฟิงซ์นี้สูงถึง 66 ฟุต ยาว 240 ฟุต หมอบเฝ้าปากทางที่พามุ่งตรงไปยังปิรามิดแห่งคีเฟรน


2.มหาวิหารอาร์เทมีส [The Temple of Artemis (Diana)

ปัจจุบัน : ยังมีซากหลงเหลืออยู่บ้าง

เป็นวิหารสร้างด้วยหินอ่อน เลียบแบบศิลปะแบบกรีก เพื่อถวายเทพเจ้าอาร์เทมีส (เทพเจ้าแห่งดวงจันทร์ของกรีก) ผู้มาจากสวรรค์ ผู้ช่วยชาวเมืองให้พ้นจากหายนะและภัยพิบัติได้ อยู่ในเมืองอีเฟซุสบนชายฝั่งแห่งหนึ่งปัจจุบันนี้ คือประเทศตุรกี ในรัชสมัยของกษัตริย์อเล็กซานเดอร์แห่งกรีก จัดเป็นวัดที่สวยงามแห่งหนึ่งจนกลายเป็นที่รู้จักว่า เป็นสิ่งมหัศจรรย์ของโลกในยุคเก่า

วิหารนี้มีเนื้อที่ถึง 54,720 ตารางฟุต ตัวอาคารมีความกว้างถึง 400 ฟุต บริเวณโดยรอบวัดแห่งนี้กิน เนื้อที่เกือบ 2 เอเคอร์ และมีเสาหินตั้งตระหง่านรอบตัวอาคารมากกว่า 100 เสาหิน แต่ละเสาหินมีเส้นผ่านศุนย์กลาง 6 ฟุต ความสูง 60 ฟุต หลังคาปูด้วยกระเบื้องหินอ่อน ภายในโบสถ์เป็นที่ประดิษฐานเทพเจ้าชื่อว่า อาร์ทิมีส หรืออีกชื่อหนึ่ง ว่าไดอาน่า ประชาชนจะนำสิ่งของมาสักการะบูชา ส่วนมากเป็นสิ่งของมีค่ามากมาย

เคยถูกไฟไหม้เสียหายครึ่งหนึ่งแต่ได้รับการซ่อมแซมใหม่โดยกษัตริย์อเล็กซานเดอร์ วิหารแห่งนี้ได้ถูก ทำลายสิ้นก่อนปี ค.ศ. 262 จึงเหลือแต่ซากปรักหักพังเก็บไว้ชมอยู่ในกรุงอิสตันบลู ประเทศตุรกี


3.สุสานของกษัตริย์โมโซรุส (The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus)

สถานที่ตั้ง : เมืองฮาลคาร์นาซซัส ประเทศตุรกี
ปัจจุบัน : ยังมีซากหลงเหลือ

สุสานเก่าแก่ของพระเจ้ามุสโซลุส กษัตริย์แห่งเอเซียไมเนอร์ หรือเปอร์เซียในปัจจุบัน สร้างโดยพระมเหสีชื่อ อาเตมีสเซีย ซึ่งเป็นทั้งพระขนิษฐาของพระองค์ด้วย ความตายของพระสวามี ทำให้พระนางเสียพระทัยมากถึงขนาดผสมเถ้าถ่านกระดูกของพระสวามีกับเครื่องดื่มของพระองค์ จึงสร้างสุสานไว้เป็นที่ระลึก คำว่า MAUSOLEUM จึงถูกใช้ขนานนามสุสานขนาดใหญ่ ๆ ในเวลาต่อมา

สุสานเก่าแก่ซึ่งได้ชื่อว่าเป็นสิ่งมหัศจรรย์ของโลกนี้ เป็นผลงานของนายช่างผู้สร้างสรรค์ทั้ง 4 คน ด้วยกัน คือ ฟิดิอัส , ชาติรัสบายฮาซีส , สโคปปาส และ ทิโมทิอัส สร้างด้วยหินอ่อน ในปี ค.ศ. 156 - 190 มีขนาดสูงถึง 140 ฟุต ฐานโดยรอบยาวถึง 460 ฟุต บนยอดสุดเป็นพื้นเหลี่ยม เล็กกว่าฐานล่าง ได้ปั้นเป็นรูปราชรถและม้า 1 ชุด กำลังวิ่ง และมีกษัตริย์พระมเหสียืนอยู่บนราชรถม้า ประกอบด้วยลวดลาย สวยงามมาก

ในปัจจุบันนี้เหลือแต่ซากปรักหักพังบางส่วนบางส่วนเพราะเกิดแผ่นดินไหวในศตวรรษที่ 12 - 13 ขึ้นและชิ้นส่วนเหล่านี้ถูกนำไปไว้ที่พิพิธภัณฑ์ของประเทศอังกฤษชื่อ บริทิช มิวเซียม


4.สวนลอยแห่งกรุงบาบิโลน (The Hanging Gardens of Babylon)

สถานที่ตั้ง : กลางทะเลทราย เมืองแบกแดด ประเทศอิรัก
ปัจจุบัน : ทั้งสวนและผนังดังกล่าวทรุดโทรมจนแทบไม่เหลือซากแล้ว

ระหว่างในรัชสมัยของพระเจ้านาโบโปลัซซาร์และพระโอรส คือ พระเจ้าเนบูชัดเนซซาร์ที่สอง ปกครองบาบิโลนซึ่งได้ขยายแสนยานุภาพออกไปมากมายจนรุ่งเรือง พระเจ้านาโบโปลัซซาร์ทรงโปรดให้ สร้างกำแพงมหึมาล้อมรอบมือง และโอรสก็ทรงดำเนินโครงการต่อ สร้างป้อมปราการและจุดป้องกันต่าง ๆ รอบกำแพง มีการสร้างสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำยูเฟรตีส

พระเจ้าเนบูชัดเนซซาร์ โปรดให้สร้างสวนลอยซึ่งมีชื่อเสียงขจรขจายไปทั่วจนกลายเป็น สิ่งมหัศจรรย์อย่างหนึ่งของโลกสวนลอยนี้ เป็นสวนที่สร้างอยู่เหนือพื้นดินบนพื้นที่กึ่งทะเลทราย พระเจ้าเนบูชัดเนซซาร์ ทรงสร้างให้พระมเหสีซึ่งเป็นเจ้าหญิงแห่งมีดส์ซึ่งเป็นพันธมิตรที่ดี ร่วมกันขับไล่พวกอัสซีเรียออกไปได้ ตามตำนาน พระราชินีเซมีรามิส องค์นี้ทรงอาลัยอาวรณ์ ภูมิประเทศที่เป็นเทือกเขาเปอร์เซีย อันเป็นบ้านเกิดเมืองนอนและไม่โปรดความราบเรียบของนครบาบิโลน ดังนั้นจึงมีการสร้างสวนลอยขึ้นเป็นภูเขาซึ่งสร้างขึ้นโดยฝีมือมนุษย์



สวนลอยแห่งนี้สร้างเมื่อประมาณ 600 ปี ก่อนคริสตกาล โดยก่อเป็นเนินสูงซ้อนกันเป็นชั้นสูง ๆ สูงถึง 328 ฟุต หรือ 100 เมตร ล้อมรอบด้วยกำแพงแข็งแกร่งหนาถึง 23 ฟุต หรือ 7 เมตร แต่ละชั้น สร้างสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวก และ ปลูกดอกไม้ พืชพันธุ์ต่าง ๆ ไว้จำนวนมาก พันธ์พฤกษ์สารพัดชนิดจากทุกมุมโลก รวมทั้งไม้ดอกและไม้เลื้อย บันไดที่พาขึ้นไปสู่สวน กว้างขวางทำด้วยหินอ่อนข้างใต้บันไดมีซุ่มคอยรับน้ำหนัก ข้างบนเฉลียงของสวนลอยมีถังน้ำที่คอยหล่อเลี้ยงน้ำพุ น้ำตก และสายน้ำต่าง ๆ บนสวนลอย น้ำจำนวนมากมายนี้ สูบมาจากแม่น้ำยูเฟรติสโดยทาส โดยชักน้ำจากเบื้องล่างขึ้นไปสู้ชั้นสูงสุดแล้วปล่อยให้ ไหลลงมาสู่ชั้นต่าง ๆ เบื้องล่าง

พ่อค้าวาณิชที่เดินทางในทะเลทรายมาสู่เมืองนี้ จะได้เห็นสวนลอยแห่งนี้อยู่สูงเด่นเห็นแต่ไกล จนเป็นที่เลื่องลือไปทั่วทิศ จากหลักฐานทางประวัติศาสตร์ปรากฎว่ากรุงบาบิโลน อยู่ในเมืองแบกแดก ของประเทศอิรักปัจจุบัน นับว่าคนสมัยนั้นมัความสามารถทางด้านสถาปัตย์และวิศวกรรมศาสตร์อย่างน่ายกย่อง จึงสามารถรักษาสวนลอยนี้ให้สวยงามเขียวชอุ่มได้ตลอดเวลา หลังจากพระเจ้าเนบูชัดเนซซาร์สิ้นพระชนม์ลงได้ 22 ปี อาณาจักรนี้ก็ตกเป็นของจักรพรรดิไซรัสมหาราช แห่งเปอร์เชีย สันนิษฐานกันว่า สวนลอยแห่งบาบิโลนนี้ ยังคงอยู่คู่เมืองจนถึงวศรรตวรรษที่ 3 ก่อนคริสตกาล

ปัจจุบันนี้ส่วนที่หลงเหลืออยู่ให้เราได้ชมก็คือบ่อน้ำและโค้งซุ้มประตูหนึ่งหรือสองอัน และนิยาย คำร่ำลือสืบต่อ ๆ กันมา


5.เทวรูปเทพเจ้าซีอุส (The Statue of Zeus at Olympia)

สถานที่ตั้ง : เมืองโอลิมเปีย ประเทศกรีซ
ปัจจุบัน : ไม่เหลือซาก

อนุสาวรีย์นี้เป็นรูปสลักเทพเจ้าซีอูส นั่งบนบัลลังก์สีทองที่แกะสลักด้วยงาช้างจำนวนมากมาประกอบกันขึ้น ผู้ที่ปั้นเทวรูปซีอุสนี้ เป็นปฏิมากรเอกชาวกรีก ชื่อ ฟีดีอัส เป็นคนเดียวกับที่สร้างวิหารพาเธนอน ในกรุงเอเธนส์ และสนามกีฬาโอลิมปิค

เทวรูปซีอุส เป็นสิ่งมหัศจรรย์ยุคเก่าแก่สิ่งหนึ่งของโลก คือ สร้างขึ้นประมาณ 2,400 ปีก่อน ระหว่งปี ค.ศ. 53 - 111 ตามตำนานที่จารึกไว้ได้ระบุว่าเทวรูปทำจากงาช้างสูง 58 ฟุต มีขนาดใหญ่กว่าคนปรกติถึง 8 เท่า พระหัตถ์ซ้ายทรงคทา พระหัตถ์ขวารองรับ รูปปั้นแห่งชัยชนะ (A small figure of Victory ) มีเครื่องประดับ ประดาด้วยทองคำล้วน

ชาวโรมันเรียกอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า จูปีเตอร์ ชาวกรีกได้เรียกเทวรูปนี้ว่า ซุส ซึ่งเป็นสัญลักษณ์ว่าเป็นผู้นำแห่งเทพเจ้า ชาวกรีกนับถื่อมากที่สุดในยุคนั้น ใครจะออกเดินทางไปเมืองใดต้องมาพรจากพระองค์เสียก่อน

แต่บัดนี้ไม่มีหลักฐานให็เป็นที่ชมได้เพราะได้ถูกไฟเผาไหม้หมดทั้งองค์ในปี ค.ศ. 476 คงเห็นภาพในเหรียญ ตราโบราณ และจากจินตนาการที่ได้มาจากคำบอกเล่า หรือ นิยายปรัมปราเท่านั้น แต่ความงาม ความใหญ่โตศักดิสิทธิ์ ยังคงเป็นที่ยกย่องเล่าลือมาจนถึงปัจจุบันนี้


6.เทวรูปเทพเจ้าเฮลิออส(อะพอลโล)(The Colossus of Rhodes)

เป็นรูปของเทพเจ้าเฮลิออส หรือ อพอลโล สูงถึง 105 ฟุต หรือ 32 เมตร ละหนักถึง 295 ตัน หล่อด้วยทองสัมฤทธิ์ในท่ายืน ตัวเทวรูปตั้งอยู่บนฐานทั้งสองข้างของปากอ่าว องค์เทวรูปยืนถ่างคร่อมปากอ่าว ให้เรือลอดไปมาได้ มีกระจกบานใหญ่ติดอยู่บน อกทำให้เรือที่แล่นออกจากอียิปต์มองเห็นได้ชัดเจน

ประวัติความเป็นมาของรูปปั้นมหึมานี้ ย้อนกลับไปตั้งแต่สมัยปี 312 ก่อนคริสตกาล ชาวเกาะโรดส์ได้ตัดสินใจ ร่วมรบกับพระเจ้าปโตเลมีแห่งอียิปต์ จากการรุกรานของชาวแมซีโดเนียน พวกแมซีโดเนียนเข้าล้อมเกาะไว้ด้วยเรือและทหาร มากมาย แต่ชาวเกาะโรดส์ก็ได้ตีกลับ และเกิดการปะทะกันอยู่เกือบปีจนได้รับชัยชนะ ในบรรดาผู้ที่ร่วมปกป้องเกาะโรดส์ก็มี ปฏิมากรผู้หนึ่งชื่อว่า ชาเรส แห่ง ลินดัส ด้วยความยินดีปรีดาของชาวโรดส์ และเพื่อเป็นอนุสรณ์แห่งการหลุดพ้นจากชาว แมซีโดเนียน ชาร์เรส จึงได้รับมอบหมายให้สร้างรูปปั้นบรอนซ์มหึมาของเทพเจ้าแห่งพระอาทิตย์หรืออพอลโล

เฮลิออส หรือ อพอลโล เป็นเทพเจ้าแห่งศิลปะของชาวกรีกและโรมันสมัยโบราณ ถือกันว่าสวยที่สุดในจำพวกผู้ชาย รูปปั้นนี้มีชื่อว่า โคลอสซัส หล่อขึ้นมาจากโลหะต่าง ๆ ที่เหลือจากการสงครามและชาวแมซีเนียนทิ้งไว้ ชาเรสทำงานหนักตลอดเวลา 12 ปี ทุ่มเทให้กับรูปปั้นนี้ แต่มีเรื่องเล่าว่าพอรูปปั้นนี้เสร็จเขาก็ได้พบว่าคำนวณสัดส่วนผิดไป ชาเรสผิดหวังมากถึงกับปลิดชีพตัวเอง แต่รูปปั้นโคลอสซัสนี้ก็มีชื่อเสียงมากถึงกับเป็นหนึ่งในสิ่งมหัศจรรย์ของโลก

รูปปั้นโคลอสซัสมีอายุสั้นที่สุดเพียว 56 ปีเท่านั้น แผ่นดินไหวเมื่อ 224 ปีก่อนศริสกาลทำให้รูปปั้นมหึมาพัง ทลายลงมาระเนระนาด ชิ้นส่วนต่าง ๆ ยังคงหลงเหลืออยู่ในต้นศตวรรษแรกเมื่อพวกอาหรับยึดครองเกาะโรดส์ในสมัย ศตวรรษที่ 7 รูปปั้นโคลอสซัสถูกขายต่อไปยังพ่อค้าชาวยิว การขนย้ายต้องใช้อูฐเป็นร้อยและวนเวียนถึงเก้าเที่ยว


7.หอประภาคารโรส [The Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos)]

ประภาคารนี้ทำด้วยหินอ่อนสีขาวสลีกลวดลาย วิจิตรงดงาม ตั้งอยู่ริมฝั่งทะเลเมดิเตอเรเนียน ท่าเรือของเกาะฟาโรส สร้างในสมัยพระเจ้าปโตเลมีที่สองของอียิปต์ช่วงปี 270 ปีก่อนคริสตกาลสิออกแบบโดยสถาปนิกชาวกรีกชื่อโซสตราโตส

ตามหลักฐานคาดว่าประภาคารนี้สูงถึง 440 ฟุต หรือ 134 เมตร ช่วงล่างเป็นรูปสี่เหลี่ยม ช่วงกลางเป็นรูปแปดเหลี่ยม และช่วงบนเป็นทรงกลม ยอดบนสุดกของประภาคารนี้ มีภาชนะสำหรับใส่ถ่าน ซึ่งลุกโชติช่วงทั้งวันทั้งคืนเพื่อเป็นไฟสัญญาณไฟบนยอดประภาคารนี้เห็นได้ไกลในทะเลเมดิเตอเรเนียนถึง 25 ไมล์ หรือ 40 กิโลเมตร และช่วงบนมีกระจกขนาดใหญ่ ตามตำนานเล่าขานกันมา กระจกนี้สะท้อน เหตุการณ์ทุกอย่างที่เกิดขึ้นในกรุงคอนสแตนติโนเปิ้ล ข้ามไปจนถึงภาคตะวันออกของทะเลเมดิเตอเรเนียนทและเอเชียไมเนอร์



ยังมีการเล่าต่อกันมาอีกว่ากระจกนี้ยังมอิทธิฤทธิ์อิทธิเดชสำคัญสะท้อนแสงอาทิตย์ไปเผา เรือศรัตรูในทะเล เพราะเรื่องราวที่เล่าสืบต่อกันมาเหล่านี้ ทำให้ประภาคารแห่งเมืองอเล็กซานเดรียนี้มีชื่อเสียง เป็นสิ่งมหัศจรรย์ของโลก แม้ว่าไม่ใช่ประภารแห่งแรกในทะเลเมดิเตอเรเนียนแต่ก็เป็นอันที่ใหญ่ที่สุด ประภาคารนี้ได้ชื่อมาจากชื่อเกาะที่มันตั้งอยู่ คือธิฟาโรสชัและกลายมาเป็นชื่อเรียกประภาคารในภาษาต่าง ๆ

ประภาคารฟาโรสตั้งตระหง่านนำทางสัญจรของเรือเข้าสู่เมืองอเล็กซานเดรียมาเป็นเวลา 9000 ปี จนกระทั่งพวกอาหรับเข้ายึดครองเมือง ประภาคารก็ถูกรื้อทิ้งไป เล่ากันมาว่พวกอาหรับถูกสายลับซึ่งจักรพรรดิ แห่งคอนสแตนติโนเปิ้ลส่งมาหลอกลวงให้ทำลายประภาคารเสีย เพื่อไม่ให้ใช้มันเป็นประโยชน์ในการเดินเรือของพวกมุสลิม สายลับอ้างว่าข้างใต้ประภาคารมีขุมทรัพย์ฝังอยู่ แต่หลังจากประภาคารถูกทำลายไปแล้วพวกอาหรับถึงตระหนักว่าเสียรู้ ในช่วงนั้นกระจกขนาดใหญ่ก็หล่นร่วงลงมาและแตกละเอียดเป็นผุยผง มีบางส่วนของประภาคารหลงเหลือ และส่วนนี้ก็ยังคงมีอยู่ให้เห็นจนปี ค.ศ. 1375ยจนแผ่นดินไหวในเมืองอเล็กซานเดรียพังประภาคารชื่อดังก็ทลายลงมาจนสิ้นซาก

Photos
iPod classic holds up to 25,000 photos you can sync from your Mac or PC via iTunes. Use the Click Wheel to scroll through photo thumbnails the same way you scroll through song titles. To see a photo full screen, click the center button. You can even view photo slideshows--complete with music and transitions--on iPod classic or on a TV using an optional Apple component or composite AV cable

Search
With up to 40,000 songs on your iPod classic, you need an easy way to search your collection. A built-in search function lets you use the Click Wheel to type out the name of the song, artist, album, audiobook, or podcast you're looking for. iPod classic returns results instantly as you select letters.

Extras
Calendars, contacts, and a clock appear in the Extras menu, along with a few more handy items. Take the screen lock, for example.
