The Dark Knight Movie Trailer

The Dark Knight – the sequel to the 2005 Batman Begins – was always a highly anticipated film, but the shocking death of Heath Ledger, who plays the Joker in it, thrust the project into the limelight. Announced in January 2006, The Dark Knight is the first Batman film without the word ‘Batman’ in its title. Christopher Nolan, writer-director of Batman Begins, comes back. So does Christian Bale as Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox and Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon. Katie Holmes is replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal to play Rachel Dawes while Aaron Eckhart makes an entry as Harvey (Two-Face) Dent. All set to storm cinema screens on July 18, The Dark Knight has been partly shot in the IMAX format with an estimated budget of $180 million.

Synopsis

With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and the committed new District Attorney, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman (Christian Bale) sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham City for good. The triumvirate initially proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as The Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces The Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.
